The Kaley Smith Benefit Dinner at the Westwood Women’s Club on January 16, 2007 raised $17,000 to help cover treatment and expenses for Kaley Smith, a local girl who suffers from a debilitating brain disease.

Sara Moulton, executive chef of Gourmet Magazine and host of two Food Network cooking shows, led the staff of Picnic in cooking up her signature recipes. The United Way of Bergen County and Westwood Women’s Club co-sponsored the event. Wine was donated by Cork and Keg. Thanks to all who helped!

Kerryann, Kaley’s mom, sent the following note to thank Christine, the staff at Picnic, and all who were involved:

I can’t thank you and your staff enough for the amazing evening we had in Kaley’s honor. You are truly an amazing person and that was thought of by everyone at the dinner. I don’t know how to thank you or what the right words are but it was such a great effort and a great time had by all. Kara [Kaley’s sister] felt like a queen which was so important. I think she thought it was her party. It was incredible to feel so much love and comfort in a room full of virtual strangers. What a unique and uplifting experience in such a difficult time. I can’t begin to tell you how much strength and courage I gained from that night. I am truly grateful. I can’t thank you enough for all that you did.

We are bonded for life.
